VALE KERRY ARTHUR CATTELL

It is with deep sadness that ADF Psychology acknowledges the passing of Kerry Arthur Cattell.
Kerry was my Uncle – though was way more than that. Kerry was instrumental in my decision to enlist in the University of NSW Regiment (UNSWR) in 1979.
Kerry served in the AVF Detachment of the 1st Intelligence Division during the Vietnam War. Upon returning to Australia Kerry continued his career in Metallurgy attaining a global role within Foseco. Many people within that organisation described Kerry as, by far, the best leader they had ever experienced. Kerry learnt many of his leadership skills within the crucible of war.
Following his retirement Kerry invested much of his time in the Cronulla RSL sub-branch. He also was invited onto the Board of the Cronulla RSL Club and served there for 11 years. Kerry was instrumental in helping the Club navigate the COVID19 pandemic.

In 2023 Kerry participated in a Podcast to commemorate Vietnam Veterans Day. This speaks to Kerry’s early life and his Service within counter-intelligence during the Vietnam War.

“we went up there as boys, and then had lifetimes of experiences crammed into a year – it was just all too much at once”.
