Vietnam veteran, mentor, and a man whose leadership was forged in the crucible of war. It is with deep sadness that ADF Psychology acknowledges his passing.
Kerry was my uncle, though he was so much more than that. He was instrumental in my own decision to enlist in the University of NSW Regiment (UNSWR) in 1979.
Kerry served with the AVF Detachment of the 1st Intelligence Division during the Vietnam War. On returning to Australia, he built a career in metallurgy, rising to a global role within Foseco — where many who worked with him described him as the best leader they ever experienced. He learned much of that leadership in the crucible of war.
Following his retirement, Kerry gave years of his time to the Cronulla RSL sub-branch, serving 11 years on the Board of the Cronulla RSL Club and helping guide it through the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kerry's Celebration of Life was held at Cronulla RSL Club at 11:00am on Monday, 28 April. His eulogy and a podcast recording from 2023 are available below.
"We went up there as boys, and then had lifetimes of experiences crammed into a year — it was just all too much at once."
