Veteran owned  •  Serving & veteran ADF members  •  Telehealth Australia-wide
For full-time and reserve personnel

Support built for people still in Service.

Whatever your rank, corps or employment category, ADF Psychology provides confidential support that works around duty, exercises and postings — not the other way around.

Why serving members choose ADF Psychology

Support without leaving the Service.

Many serving members delay getting help because they're worried it will affect their category, clearance or career. ADF Psychology exists so that concern doesn't have to stop you.

Outside the chain of command

Sessions are confidential and separate from your unit's welfare and reporting structures.

Telehealth, anywhere in Australia

Attend from base, on exercise where connectivity allows, or from home — no travel to a clinic required.

Understands Defence culture

No need to explain rank structure, postings, or why "just take some leave" isn't always the answer.

Flexible scheduling

Appointments that fit around duty rosters, courses and short-notice taskings.

Ψ

Evidence-based care

Registered psychology, not peer support alone — clinically grounded strategies for real change.

Family impact acknowledged

If Service life is affecting your household, that's part of the conversation in your own sessions. Partners and children can access their own free counselling via Open Arms.

Common reasons members reach out

You don't need a crisis to book an appointment.

Most people who contact ADF Psychology aren't in crisis — they're managing something that's building, and want to deal with it before it grows.

Sleep, stress or irritability

Ongoing pressure that's starting to affect mood, patience or performance.

Relationship strain

Postings, deployments and long hours placing pressure on a partnership or family.

Difficulty switching off

Carrying operational tempo home, or struggling to be present outside work hours.

Uncertainty about the future

Questions about remuster, promotion, posting or whether to stay in the ADF.

Reaction to a specific incident

A training incident, operational event or workplace situation that's stayed with you.

General burnout

The cumulative weight of tempo, admin and responsibility, without one clear cause.

How to access support

Two simple pathways in.

01

Self-referral

Contact ADF Psychology directly by email or phone. No unit sign-off or referral is required to book a first appointment.

02

Referral pathway

If you already have a referral from an MO, psychologist or chaplain, mention it when you get in touch and it will be linked to your file.

03

First appointment

An initial session to understand what's going on and agree on a plan — practical, not a lengthy intake process.

Book a confidential appointment.

No referral required. Sessions available by telehealth across Australia.
